What is a BHBT Pic-ME photo debit card?
A Pic-ME card is just like your current BHBT VISA® Check Card, except that you get to pick how your card looks. As long as you meet our Image Guidelines, you can choose any photo or image you like for the front of your card, making it unique to you.
How much does it cost?
Each Pic-ME card is $7.95. The fee will be deducted from the primary checking account linked to your debit card.
Who can order a Pic-ME card?
If you hold a personal BHBT VISA® Check Card tied to a checking account you can order a Pic-ME card. (Pic-ME cards are not available with our Business Debit Cards.)
Can my joint account holders design their own cards, too?
Yes! The image is tied to the card, not to the account, so every card associated with the account can be customized by the individual cardholder.
When I switch to a Pic-ME card, will my debit card number or PIN change?
No, your debit card number and PIN will remain the same. Only the card expiration date will change. Your new expiration date will be three years from the end of the month in which your Pic-ME card was ordered.
What if don't have a Bar Harbor Bank & Trust Visa® Check Card?
You will need a BHBT personal checking account with a Visa® Check Card to get a Pic-ME card. It's easy to sign up. How do I design my Pic-ME card?
If you already have a BHBT VISA® Check Card, you can easily personalize it with our Pic-ME design tool.
1. Upload the photo you would like on your card
a. If you wish to use an image from one of our galleries, simply click on the picture and it will appear in the design tool.
b. If you wish to upload your own image
i. Click the 'browse' button on the design tool to locate the image on your computer
ii. When you locate your image, select it and then click on the 'Upload' button on the design tool. Your image will appear in the design tool.

2. Customize the look of your card by enlarging, cropping or rotating it using the buttons at the top left corner of the design tool.
3. When you are satisfied with the look of your card, hit the 'Next' button at the top right of the design tool.
4. Complete the 'Details' page with the required information.
5. Click 'Submit' where you will see a 'Thank You' page with additional information.
How often can I change my Pic-ME card?
You can change the image on your Pic-ME card as often as you like. Each time you change your image, a new card will be issued. Each Pic-ME card is $7.95. The fee will be deducted from the primary checking account linked to your debit card.
What image formats can be used to create a Pic-ME card?
The photo must be digital and formatted as a .JPEG, .GIF, .PNG, .TIFF or .BMP.
How do I convert my photo into a digital photo?
If the image you wish to use is not in digital format, you can either scan your print at home or take it to a photo processing facility where they may be able to scan it and put it on a disk. Remember, the image needs to be saved as a .JPEG, .GIF, .PNG, .TIFF or .BMP in high resolution.
What size does my digital photo need to be?
Please use an image that is at least 840 x 840 pixels. It should be at least 50KB (kilobytes) in size but no larger than 10MB (megabytes).
Can I edit my original image?
Yes. With our Pic-ME design tool, you can:
Adjust the size of your image on your card (zoom in or out)
Rotate your image 90 degrees
Create a mirror image
Place the image where you want it to be.
What can I do to make sure my Pic-ME card turns out as good as possible?
Choose a clear, high-resolution image. Please place the picture exactly where you want it and make any adjustments with the card design tool. What you see on the preview page is what you get. BHBT does not adjust the picture in any way.
Do I need special software to design my Pic-ME card?
In order to process your image, you will need Flash Player 6.0 (or higher). If you do not already have Flash player, you can download it free of charge at
How do I know if my photo was approved?
Every submitted image is reviewed for compliance with BHBT's Image Guidelines. This usually takes 2 business days and once your image is approved, you will receive an approval email. Once approved, you should receive your new Pic-ME card within 7-10 business days.
What if the image I submit isn't approved?
BHBT reserves the right to reject any image that does not meet our Image Guidelines or breaches a third party's copyright. If an image is rejected, you will be notified by email within 2 two business days. You may submit a new image any time following your rejection notification. A card will not be created until an acceptable image is submitted. You will not be charged a fee for a rejected image.
What happens when my Pic-ME card expires?
Upon expiration of your Pic-ME card, we will issue a new card with the same image as your most recently issued card and a $7.95 fee will be deducted from the primary checking account linked to the card. If your card is set to expire and you wish to change your image prior to expiration, please order a new Pic-ME card at least 60 days prior to the expiration date. Your new expiration date will be three years from the end of the month in which your Pic-ME card was ordered. BHBT is not responsible for notifying you in advance of your card expiration.
How will I receive my personalized card?
Your card will be mailed to you via the US Postal Service.
How long will it take to receive my card?
After you receive the email that BHBT has approved your Pic-ME card image, you should receive your card within 7-10 business days.
Will my existing card work until my new Pic-ME card arrives?
Yes, your existing card will continue to work until you activate your new Pic-ME card. Please destroy your old card once your Pic-ME card is activated. Please note that until you destroy your old card, you are liable for the use of both cards, in accordance with the relevant terms and conditions of the contract regulating their use.
What if my card is lost or stolen?
If your card is lost or stolen, please call us immediately. To report a lost or stolen debit card during business hours, please call 1-888-853-7100. During non-business hours, please call us toll-free at 1-800-264-5578. We will replace your card with a regular (non-customized) BHBT Visa® Check Card with a new card number and expiration date. A standard $5.00 replacement fee may apply.
