BAR HARBOR BANK & TRUST ANNOUNCES MARKETING DEPARTMENT REORGANIZATION AND PROMOTIONS

Bar Harbor, Maine — Joseph M. Murphy, President and CEO of Bar Harbor Bank & Trust, along with the Board of Directors, is pleased to announce the following Marketing Department leadership changes and promotions:

  • Cheryl Mullen, Vice President, Retail Sales and Service & Branch Administration has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing.
  • Cathy Planchart, Community Relations Officer has been promoted to Assistant Vice President, Corporate Communications & Community Relations.
  • Margie Gray, Branch Relationship Manager of the Blue Hill Branch has joined the Marketing Department as Assistant Vice President, Product Development & Research.
Cheryl Mullen Cheryl MullenSVP/Sales & Marketing, joined Bar Harbor Bank & Trust in 2002 as Vice President, Retail Banking Sales & Service. Since then her duties have expanded to include oversight of all branches, as well as the Call Center, for growth and business development. A Florida native, Cheryl attended Miami Dade Junior College and is a graduate of the Maine-New Hampshire School of Banking. Cheryl’s 30+ years in banking began in Florida. In 1978 she moved to Maine to work for Bangor Savings and then Mid Maine Savings Bank overseeing Operations/ Branch Administration and Human Resources. In 1995 Cheryl moved to Texas where she was Vice President and Regional Manager for Coastal Banc for seven years before returning to Maine.

As Senior Vice President, Cheryl will continue her service-focused leadership of BHBT’s twelve branches and the Call Center, with added oversight of the Marketing Department. Cheryl is active in the Ellsworth Noontime Rotary and was the first President of this relatively new Rotary Club. She is a member of the Blue Hill Congregational Church and is captain of a 3.0 women’s tennis team in Ellsworth. Along with tennis, Cheryl also enjoys hiking, biking, kayaking and skiing. Cheryl and her domestic partner, Pam Curativo, reside in Ellsworth.

Cathy Planchart Cathy Planchart AVP/Corporate Communications and Community Relations joined Bar Harbor Bank & Trust in 2007. In her new role, Cathy will continue to manage the Bank’s public relations, charitable giving program, and event coordination. In addition, she will be designing and implementing the Bank’s promotional campaigns as well as overseeing communications with customers, staff and the community. Cathy holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Barry University and is a graduate of the School of Bank Marketing and Management. Her 20+ year career in the financial services industry began in Nashville, then Boston and finally Ellsworth, where she was the Marketing Director at Union Trust from 1997-2002. From 2002 to 2007, Cathy worked in the non-profit sector.

Cathy represents Bar Harbor Bank & Trust on the Maine Bankers Association’s Marketing and Communications Committee. Residing in Ellsworth, Cathy often serves as a volunteer, using her talent to benefit organizations like The Grand, Child and Family Opportunities, Maine Coast Memorial Hospital, Beth C. Wright Cancer Resource Center, and Camp Beech Cliff. When she is not working, Cathy enjoys spending quality time with her daughters.

Margie Gray Margie Gray AVP/Product Development and Research has been with Bar Harbor Bank & Trust since 1983, working most recently as Branch Relationship Manager in Blue Hill. She is a Husson College graduate, holding a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. Margie is also a graduate of the New England School of Banking at Williams College. In her new role, Margie will conduct ongoing research on industry trends and the local market. She will continually assess product lines for enhancement opportunities and service gaps. Margie will lead interdepartmental teams to develop new services to meet customer needs. She will also manage the Bank’s website as a platform for alternate delivery channel services.

Margie is currently the Treasurer of the Ladies Public Improvement Society of South Blue Hill, and serves on the Development Committee at George Stevens Academy and the Events Committee of the Blue Hill Peninsula Chamber of Commerce. She is an active member of the Penobscot Historical Society. Margie lives in Blue Hill with her husband, David.

This restructuring and expansion of the Marketing Department at Bar Harbor Bank & Trust, comes about with the relocation of Cheryl Curtis, SVP/Marketing, to her home town of Atlanta, Georgia. Cheryl Curtis has lead the Bank’s marketing efforts for more than six years.
