Bar Harbor, Maine — – Each week, Bar Harbor Bank & Trust directors and employees, in exchange for being able to dress casually on Fridays, voluntarily contribute to a charitable fund that disburses gifts monthly to local non-profit organizations. This employee-driven donation program is called Community Commitment. The Bank matches the employee donations, doubling the amount given to the chosen non-profit organization. Each month a different bank location gets to choose the recipient of these contributions.

For the month of February, the Bar Harbor branch of Bar Harbor Bank & Trust chose the Bar Harbor Food Pantry to be the beneficiary of the Bank’s Community Commitment program.

"Fundraising for the Bar Harbor Food Pantry is a continual effort that goes hand in hand with keeping the shelves stocked with food. You need one for the other, and both are a daily effort. This gift from Bar Harbor Bank & Trust will go a long way, buying bulk food at a discount through the Good Shepherd Food Bank. In addition, all donations received during March and April are eligible for the Feinstein Challenge," said Kate Maginn Sebelin, Executive Director at the Bar Harbor Food Pantry.

For the 15th consecutive year, Alan Shawn Feinstein will divide $1 million among hunger fighting agencies nationwide through a Challenge Grant. The more donations the Bar Harbor Food Pantry receives in cash, pledges and food donations from March 1 to April 30, the more Feinstein Challenge money they are eligible to receive. You can help by making your donation now through April 30. Please mail checks to the Bar Harbor Food Pantry, P.O. Box 434, Bar Harbor, Maine 04609. For more information about the Feinstein Challenge, go to www.feinsteinfoundation.org.
