Information Regarding the Credit and Debit Card Security Breach at Hannaford

What type of fraud has occurred on compromised accounts?
We have not seen any fraud on our accounts to date. We will post additional information if anything changes.

What is Bar Harbor Bank & Trust doing to address this security issue?
We are issuing new cards and sending a letter to each affected customer. Due to the large number of cards to be reissued, this process will take approximately 2-3 weeks.

What do I do in the meantime until I get my new card?
You can continue to use your existing card. When you receive your new card, you will need to activate it. We will close the compromised cards after new cards have been issued.

What if I am uncomfortable using my card and want to close it today?
You may close your card, but please understand that you may be without a card for 2-3 weeks. Please contact us at 1-888-853-7100 or 207-288-3314 to request card closure.

Will I have to change my PIN (Personal Identification Number) on my card?
PIN numbers have not been compromised, so you may continue to use the same PIN.

Am I responsible for fraudulent charges on my account?
VISA has a zero liability guarantee for customers, so you are 100% protected against any fraudulent charges due to this breach.

What should I do to protect myself?
Although you are not responsible for any unauthorized transactions on your card due to this breach, we encourage you to closely monitor your account and notify us immediately at 1-888-853-7100 of any charges that are not legitimate or if you notice any unusual activity on your account. We strongly suggest that you monitor your monthly account statements on an ongoing basis.

Please call 1-888-853-7100 or 207-288-3314 to determine if your card is at risk. Due to high call volumes, you may be put on hold for several minutes. We apologize for this inconvenience.
