Doug Stewart, SVP of HR joins Bar Harbor Bank & Trust
Newport, New Hampshire (July 10, 2018) – Doug Stewart joins Bar Harbor Bank & Trust as Senior Vice President of Human Resources Operations & Total Rewards. HR operational areas being overseen by Doug include employee data management, employee/manager self-service platforms, payroll, and reporting and analytics. When it comes to total rewards, Doug will design and deliver compensation, benefits, and equity programs that drive up employee engagement. His overarching mandate is to provide the best possible employee experience.

Doug’s 25 year career as a human resources professional has included positions at both large and small, higher education institutions and for-profit organizations. His focus has been on benefits, compensation and human resources operations. Having grown up in Illinois, Doug earned his bachelor’s degree from the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, and his MBA from the University of Rhode Island. Doug also served his country as an officer in the U.S. Navy both on active duty and in the reserves; he retired from the reserves at the rank of Commander.
In his community, Doug has been active with the Boy Scouts of America and volunteers with the Brain Injury Association of Rhode Island. He and his wife, Mary Kaye, have four grown sons and enjoy skiing, playing golf and running together. Currently residing in Rhode Island, Doug will be relocating to New Hampshire, working from the Bank’s office in Newport.
