Bar Harbor Bank & Trust (BHBT) provides the Pic-ME Card service subject to the following terms and conditions. These terms and conditions are in addition to those found in your Deposit Account Disclosures and the Consumer Debit Card Agreement, which govern the use of your card. The photo, logo, artwork or other image submitted by you and all information thereon, are hereafter collectively referred to as the “Image.” 

1. You certify that you have read and understand the Image Guidelines and that the Image you submitted to BHBT for your Pic-ME card complies with the Guidelines. 

2. A production fee of $7.95 will be deducted from the primary checking account linked to your debit card each time BHBT issues a new Pic-ME card in your name, whether for a new image or for replacement of an expired, lost, or stolen card. 

3. You authorize BHBT to charge all applicable fees to the checking account associated with your Pic-ME card when your card is ordered. 

4. In addition to your compliance the Image Guidelines, you represent and warrant to BHBT:
a. The Image you are submitting was created by you and you are the owner of the Image, and/or you obtained express written consent from the owner of the Image for you to use it on your Pic-ME card and for BHBT to alter, copy, print distribute, prepare and use the image on your Pic-ME card;
b. You have obtained the express consent of any person other than yourself who appears in the Image you are submitting; and
c. Use of the Image will not infringe any business’ or individual’s rights, including intellectual property, privacy or publicity rights.

If BHBT requests, before or after accepting your image, you shall provide BHBT with reasonable proof of such ownership, written consent and/or non-infringement. 

5. You grant to BHBT a perpetual, non-transferable, non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide, irrevocable license to use the Image and other data you provide to BHBT for the purpose of providing your customized card. 

6. You agree to indemnify, defend and hold Bar Harbor Bank & Trust, its affiliates, subsidiaries, its card membership organizations and its and their respective shareholders, officers, directors, employees, agents, members, contractors and representatives from any and all claims, liabilities, losses, costs and expenses of any nature whatsoever (including but not limited to attorney’s fees) that may arise from the issuance or use of your customized card with your submitted image on it, including (without limitation) any and all claims alleging trademark or copyright infringement, and/or the violation of a right of privacy or publicity or any other right. 

7. BHBT’s liability hereunder is limited to refunding any fee associated with the issuance of a customized card and BHBT is not liable to you for any loss, damage, claim, or expense whatsoever in relation to any action or omission by BHBT in connection with the customized card service or product. BHBT is not responsible for poor-quality Images or Images poorly positioned on the customized card template. Images and copies thereof will not be returned to you for any reason. 

8. Your Pic-ME card remains the property of BHBT. You agree to return or destroy the card immediately if asked by BHBT for any reason, or if the account linked to your Pic-ME card is closed. 

9. Rejected Images, superseded Images, and Images from canceled Pic-ME cards, accepted Images and copies thereof, may be stored for any period of time and may be purged at any time that BHBT may choose at its sole discretion. 

10. BHBT reserves the right not to accept or use any Image you submit, or to refuse to issue a Pic-ME card for any reason whatsoever at BHBT’s sole discretion. 

11. If a submitted Image is rejected, BHBT will notify you by email, without any obligation to justify its decision. 

12. If a submitted image is rejected, you can submit a new image and request a new card design. However, if you repeatedly submit Images that do not follow the Image Guidelines, BHBT reserves the right to exclude you from future use of this service.

What is a BHBT Pic-ME photo debit card?
A Pic-ME card is just like your current BHBT VISA® Debit Card, except that you get to pick how your card looks. As long as you meet our Image Guidelines, you can choose any photo or image you like for the front of your card, making it unique to you.

How much does it cost?
Each Pic-ME card is $7.95. The fee will be deducted from the primary checking account linked to your debit card. 

Who can order a Pic-ME card?
If you hold a personal BHBT VISA® Debit Card tied to a checking account you can order a Pic-ME card. (Pic-ME cards are not available with our Business Debit Cards.) 

Can my joint account holders design their own cards, too?
Yes! The image is tied to the card, not to the account, so every card associated with the account can be customized by the individual cardholder.

When I switch to a Pic-ME card, will my debit card number or PIN change?
No, your debit card number and PIN will remain the same. Only the card expiration date will change. Your new expiration date will be three years from the end of the month in which your Pic-ME card was ordered.

You will need a BHBT personal checking account  with a Visa® Debit Card to get a Pic-ME card. It's easy to sign up. How do I design my Pic-ME card?
If you already have a BHBT VISA® Debit Card, you can easily personalize it with our Pic-ME design tool .
  1. Upload the photo you would like on your card. a. If you wish to use an image from one of our galleries, simply click on the picture and it will appear in the design tool. b. If you wish to upload your own image i. Click the 'browse' button on the design tool to locate the image on your computer ii. When you locate your image, select it and then click on the 'Upload' button on the design tool. Your image will appear in the design tool.

  2. Customize the look of your card by enlarging, cropping or rotating it using the buttons at the top left corner of the design tool. 
  3. When you are satisfied with the look of your card, hit the 'Next' button at the top right of the design tool. 
  4. Complete the 'Details' page with the required information.
  5. Click 'Submit' where you will see a 'Thank You' page with additional information.

How often can I change my Pic-ME card?
You can change the image on your Pic-ME card as often as you like. Each time you change your image, a new card will be issued. Each Pic-ME card is $7.95. The fee will be deducted from the primary checking account linked to your debit card. 

What image formats can be used to create a Pic-ME card? 
The photo must be digital and formatted as a .JPEG, .GIF, .PNG, .TIFF or .BMP. 

How do I convert my photo into a digital photo?
If the image you wish to use is not in digital format, you can either scan your print at home or take it to a photo processing facility where they may be able to scan it and put it on a disk. Remember, the image needs to be saved as a .JPEG, .GIF, .PNG, .TIFF or .BMP in high resolution. 

What size does my digital photo need to be?
Please use an image that is at least 840 x 840 pixels. It should be at least 50KB (kilobytes) in size but no larger than 10MB (megabytes).

Can I edit my original image?
Yes. With our Pic-ME design tool, you can:
  • Adjust the size of your image on your card (zoom in or out) 
  • Rotate your image 90 degrees 
  • Create a mirror image 
  • Place the image where you want it to be. 

What can I do to make sure my Pic-ME card turns out as good as possible?
Choose a clear, high-resolution image. Please place the picture exactly where you want it and make any adjustments with the card design tool. What you see on the preview page is what you get. BHBT does not adjust the picture in any way. 

Do I need special software to design my Pic-ME card?
In order to process your image, you will need Flash Player 6.0 (or higher). If you do not already have Flash player, you can download it free of charge at Adobe.com

How do I know if my photo was approved?
Every submitted image is reviewed for compliance with BHBT's Image Guidelines. This usually takes 2 business days and once your image is approved, you will receive an approval email. Once approved, you should receive your new Pic-ME card within 7-10 business days. 

What if the image I submit isn't approved?
BHBT reserves the right to reject any image that does not meet our Image Guidelines or breaches a third party's copyright. If an image is rejected, you will be notified by email within 2 two business days. You may submit a new image any time following your rejection notification. A card will not be created until an acceptable image is submitted. You will not be charged a fee for a rejected image. 

What happens when my Pic-ME card expires?
Upon expiration of your Pic-ME card, we will issue a new card with the same image as your most recently issued card and a $7.95 fee will be deducted from the primary checking account linked to the card. If your card is set to expire and you wish to change your image prior to expiration, please order a new Pic-ME card at least 60 days prior to the expiration date. Your new expiration date will be three years from the end of the month in which your Pic-ME card was ordered. BHBT is not responsible for notifying you in advance of your card expiration. 

How will I receive my personalized card?
Your card will be mailed to you via the US Postal Service.

How long will it take to receive my card?
After you receive the email that BHBT has approved your Pic-ME card image, you should receive your card within 7-10 business days.

Will my existing card work until my new Pic-ME card arrives?
Yes, your existing card will continue to work until you activate your new Pic-ME card. Please destroy your old card once your Pic-ME card is activated. Please note that until you destroy your old card, you are liable for the use of both cards, in accordance with the relevant terms and conditions of the contract regulating their use. 

What if my card is lost or stolen?
If your card is lost or stolen, please call us immediately. To report a lost or stolen debit card during business hours, please call 1-888-853-7100. During non-business hours, please call us toll-free at 1-800-264-5578. We will replace your card with a regular (non-customized) BHBT Visa® Debit Card with a new card number and expiration date. A standard $5.00 replacement fee may apply.

Image Guidelines

Bar Harbor Bank & Trust reserves the right to determine, at its sole discretion, whether a submitted image will be accepted. All images must have the consent of the owner including those images downloaded from the Internet. Each image also must follow the Visa® Issuing Guidelines as set by Visa® International. All images in our Pic-ME photo galleries adhere to our image guidelines. Bar Harbor Bank & Trust will not accept images that contain any of the following:
  • Competitive marks or names
  • Political or religious imagery which is offensive to cultural values 
  • Illegal groups 
  • Socially unacceptable groups 
  • Provocative or sexual material 
  • Branded products (except those associated with approved Affinity/Co-Brand programs) 
  • Copyrighted or trademarked material not owned by partner 
  • Celebrities/musicians/public figures/athletes/cartoons, etc. (except for those associated with approved Affinity/Co-Brand programs) 
  • Phone numbers (e.g. 800 or 900 numbers and URL addresses like "http://www.xyz.com") 
  • Violence, profanity or obscenities 
  • Any references to Visa sponsorship properties (e.g. Olympics - except for those associated with approved programs) 
  • Any photo that might result in non-acceptance or other problems at the point of sale 
  • Any printing or process that interferes with the required security features of the card 
  • Reproduction of currency, where applicable 
  • Any image that may potentially bring the Visa brand into disrepute 
  • Any image Bar Harbor Bank & Trust deems unacceptable to be associated with the Bar Harbor Bank & Trust brand. 
This list is not all-inclusive; Bar Harbor Bank & Trust retains the right to decide that any submitted image is not to be used. Images that do NOT meet the above guidelines will be rejected and you will be notified by email. You may then submit another image.

Upload Guidelines

  • Image files can be in either .JPEG, .GIF, .PNG, .TIFF or .BMP formats. 
  • The maximum file size is 10 megabytes (MB). 
  • The minimum file size is 50 kilobytes (KB). 
  • Images must be at least 840 x 840 pixels. 
  • Small images will reproduce poorly when printed. 
  • As you increase the scale of your image, print quality may decline. 
  • The bigger the image you choose, the longer it will take to upload. 
  • The time your image takes to upload depends on your own Internet connection speed. 
  • Should your image be slow to upload, please talk to your own Internet access provider for help.
